Movie Monday-House of Usher

This may be one of many movie Monday's that will be of an Edgar Allen Poe story starring Vincent Price. It was hard for me to pick which one I wanted to do since there are so many and they are all so great! Vincent Price is my all time favorite actor and I also adore E.A.P. so the two combined is always magnificent!
This is one of Poe's considered "greats" and it truly is. The story is full of mystery suspense and of coarse it has a great twist ending.
PLOT: After a long journey, Philip arrives at the Usher mansion seeking his loved one, Madeline. Upon arriving, however, he discovers that Madeline and her brother Roderick Usher have been afflicted with a mysterious malady: Roderick's senses have become painfully acute, while Madeline has become catatonic. That evening, Roderick tells his guest of an old Usher family curse: any time there has been more than one Usher child, all of the siblings have gone insane and died horrible deaths. As the days wear on, the effects of the curse reach their terrifying climax.
RATING: PG-13?
STARS: 5 out of 5.
Here are two shots of the amazing Vincent Price as Usher!

Dinosaurs!!!

Since baby is only 8 days away, we decided to take Linus out on a date to the dinosaur museum. He LOVED it! He was freaking out saying,"Sinosaurs sinosaurs!" We had a lot of fun and Linus was in aw of everything. After we went out and had ice cream.

Linus standing next to the dinosaur foot saying,"ooh." He was fascinated.

Danny and Linus by the "scary" t-rex.
Linus was scared of the sharks, he kept saying,"scary scary sharks."
Linus had a blast digging for bones, we could not get him out of there.
So this strange looking rock was in the digging area. Danny snapped a photo of it just for you folks! We were just thinking the person who made this rock was either really stupid and clueless or someone did it on purpose.

Chocolate Milk!

Linus LOVES chocolate milk(instant breakfast, to make him gain weight)! I also have been drinking the stuff like mad while pregnant since I don't eat meat.
Linus loves to stir my milk and just recently learned how to drink out of a straw (yup just barely). So when I drink my milk he wants to join me, and it has now become a daily thing. He thinks it is so much fun and laughs, he is so cute! So here are a few pics.

Movie Monday- Strictly Ballroom!

I thought I had already done this one, but I have not. This film is a Baz Luhrmann ( Moulin Rough) masterpiece! Being one of his first films Strictly Ballroom appeared in 1993. I was 10 years old and there to witness it. This became my favorite film and I watched it like everyday. It has since remained one of my all time favorites! It has gotten better and better the older I got, since I was able to get all the funny stuff.
The film has a bit of an "Office" TV show feel to it. They talk to the camera and such.
I tryed to find a picture of the woman who plays Scott's mom because she is a riot, but sadly I could not find one.
PLOT: Scott Hastings is a champion caliber ballroom dancer, but much to the chagrin of the Australian ballroom dance community, Scott believes in dancing "his own steps". Fran is a beginning dancer and a bit of an ugly ducky who has the audacity to ask to be Scott's partner after his unorthodox style causes his regular partner to dance out of his life. Together, these two misfits try to win the Australian Pan Pacific Championships and show the Ballroom Confederation that they are wrong when they say, "there are no new steps!"

RATING: PG-13
STARS: I give it 5 out of 5 and Rotten tomatoes gives it a 94%.
QUOTES:
Scott: I'm bored with it!
Scott's mom: I don't believe I'm hearing this! I have been with your father for twenty-five years - do you think I get bored? Of course I do!
There is plenty more so watch!

Movie Monday-Drop Dead Fred

Here we have a film that I dedicate to my sister Heidi. Drop Dead Fred is for sure one of those "cult classics" not everyone would love this film, and not everyone would love this film like my sister Heidi and I do. We have so many inside jokes with this one (and well she knows what I mean about that). This is for sure a very fun and imaginative film for big kids. Although I frequently watched this as a child it is more for adults because of some cussing and a few other things. If you have not seen this I would highly recommend it!PLOT: A young woman who's attempting to find her place in the world battles with her controlling mother and a womanizing husband finds comfort and confusion with the appearance of her childhood friend. It is a zappy movie that emphasizes self-actualization.
RATING: PG-13
STARS: 4 out of 5, in my opinion, however rotten tomatoes gives it a 9%.

I love this picture of little "Lizzie." This was her response to her mother when she told her a somewhat twisted version of a Prince and a Princess.
Okay so I had to put this pic. up because it has to do with a one liner. Lizzie asks Fred what he thinks about her dress and he says," Ooh it looks like a big bruise."
Also with this picture, the quote to go along with it is so classic(Warning there is cussing).
Fred: The B!$%^ squashed my head! The mega B!%^*!!!!!
Here are some more ONE LINERS:
Fred: It's the B&$#@! The MEGA B*&%$, the B$%^#!
Fred: Dog poo, dog poo, yucky, yucky dog poop! Dog poop over here more on the side yucky yucky smelly dog poo!
This quote is in reference to young Lizzie's mean mother.
Fred: I'll eat her head. Lizzie: and I'll eat the rest of her. Fred: and then we will poop her all over her table!

sewing blankets

So we finally got our basement done (pics. to come) and obviously it is colder down there so I made Danny and I some blankets. Here is the finished products.

This one is Danny's and it took me forever because of all the squares. Here is mine. This one did not take very long. I love with fleece you don't really have to tie them or put batting in the middle and they are oh so snugly.
So now that the basement is done I have my very own sewing corner! I am excited about this. I also got this cute little sewing table at a yard sale for $10, it was blue but I painted it.

Helping dad shovel our super long drive way.Linus putting together my bookshelf.
Okay so it was dad who put it together but Linus was a good helper!

Christmas!

We had a great Christmas, as we always do. I just love this time of the year as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. Linus was not very interested in opening gifts so mom and dad had to open them for him, he is a silly boy. Once his presents were opened he only wanted to play with his Mickey toy. Here are some pics. from our Christmas season.

Us at our nieces baby blessing. Don't you love my chubby face?
Linus and I dressed up for church. Linus' outfit had a matching hat but he wanted nothing to do with it.

Linus loves to color so this was the perfect gift from Grandma and Grandpa.
Linus' cousin Elijah got a tent and Linus and him played in it at Grandma and Grandpa's for most of the day.
Linus with his new Mickey toy, he is obsessed with Mickey.
Linus in his new jammies, he calls them his rockets.
Aunt Heidi telling the Christmas story with puppets on her feet, she is so silly!
Every Christmas eve we go to the cemetery to visit my dad's grave. This year it had snowed so much my sister Heidi joked with my mom on the phone that we were going to have to dig him out, but she didn't mean it like really dig him out. Anyways we get there and his stone is totally buried in snow so leave it to Heidi she hops out of her car with a shovel! I thought it made a pretty funny picture so i had to post it.
This is us with most our friends in our ward at the ward party. We have been so blessed to make so many new friends here in our ward. We really love our ward and all our friends.

Movie Monday- Shadow of a Doubt

Last week I dedicated my movie Monday to my sister Holly. So this week I decided to dedicate movie Monday to my brother Scott ( no worries Heidi you will be next week).
'Shadow of a Doubt' is film done by one of my favorite directors, Alfred Hitchcock. I dedicate this to my brother ( which he most likely won't even read this) because he is the one who got me into Hitchcock.
This has been called Alfred's best work, and I would agree, although I do have a few equally favorites of his. This film was made in 1943.
The reason I love Hitchcock so much is because his stories are so very well written. He can tell such a great story of mystery, murder, and even some comedy without making it gruesome like other films of this nature. I also love old spooky/mystery films and these are right up my alley. They just don't make good spooky/mystery films anymore, now days they are nasty a bloody and poorly written. So if you like your spooky/mystery films bloody then you may laugh at these old Hitchcock films. As for me they are a true gem!PLOT: Young Charlie Newton not only shares a name with her favorite uncle, but a special bond. At times she feels the charming man is the only one who understands her need to be extraordinary and that she is better than the tiny town she lives in. So, when life is too dull she calls on him to visit. However, upon the arrival of two detectives, one of whom becomes very close to young Charlie, and a series of unusual clues concerning the mysterious 'Merry Widow Murderer', her Uncle Charlie's behavior begins to change. Young Charlie starts to suspect that the man she once idolized is not what he seems and as her world shatters, she realizes that her life may be in danger.
RATING:PG
STARS: 5 out of 5!

Baby Update

So it is official, my c-section is scheduled for Feb. 3. I am excited for baby to get here but a little nervous. I had to have a c-section with Linus and had a really hard recovery. I do have a new/better doc. this time so hopefully this will make a difference.
Baby is growing right on target and is good, despite my little trip down the stairs last week. We have decided on a name (I think) and of coarse everyone has to have an opinion on it so we will just tell you what it is when he gets here.
I am hoping not to have the depression thing as bad this time, especially since I have a better doc. who actually cares about that sort of thing. However I am going to warn you all that if I am crabby after baby comes and don't want visitors I hope you would understand that it is not you and I am not trying to be a jerk. With Linus I got very depressed and once I got home I really did not want visitors, especially kids. Anyways I just don't want anyone getting offended because I love you all.
We will post pics. as soon as he gets here!
