I thought for memorial day I would post some picture of my loved ones who have past away. Memorial day is always a special day for me to reflect on these special people and the examples that they were to me.Paul Richard Cummings. First is my Dad. He was born September 5, 1953 and past away September 17, 2001. This is the last photo taken of me with my dad, taken just 2 weeks before his unexpected death. My dad was such an inspiration to me as well as many others, I had no idea the amount of friends he had until his passing. His death was announced all over the world. Thousands of people came to his funeral, and he has been honored in many ceremonies since.
Here is me and my dad when I was just 2. At this time in his life he was known around the world as one of the best runners in the world and had set many world records, but I had no idea, to me he was just my dad!
Garth Ivon Anhder. This is my Grandpa Anhder who past away in November of 1999. He taught me how to be a bargain shopper! He was the best grandpa and I miss him.
Lee Edith Cummings. This is my grandma Cummings who past away in March of 2000. She is the mother of 13 kids, 10 of them being girls! So you can imagine she is a great example to me.
Clarence Robison 1923-September 26, 2006. This is one of two of my father's couches from BYU "Couch Robby." He treated my dad like a son and taught him most of what he knew about running, my dad then past this on to us. My dad told me great stories about the great "Couch Robby" he is a great inspiration to me as well as my family!
KC Lindquist March 14, 1984-April 4, 2001. KC was a friend of mine who past away while we were in high school. KC was such a teddy bear, he was always there to cheer anyone up. He was also very nice to cheer me on in track meets. He was nice to everyone and a great example to me. It breaks my heart that he did not think he would be missed.
Jay Wentz November 1983-January 14, 2008. Jay was also a friend from high school. We ran together on the American Fork Cross Country Team. Jay was a really good kid and was a really good example to all of us. He was also a wicked awesome runner!
There is one last person that I did not have a photo of :(
Brad Markham past away in November of 2004. I worked with Brad at his father's pediatric dentist office. Brad was a huge guy, and a huge teddy bear! The kids we worked with all day loved him, as did all of us. He always had a smile on his face and he would never argue with anyone. I remember his dad saying one day how he (his dad) would get so frustrated because whenever he would get mad at Brad, Brad would just stand there and not say anything and Dr. Markham just wanted Brad to yell back at him. That was really how he was. He was a great example to me and a pleasure to work with.
I miss all of these people and sometimes I just wish I could see them for just a few minutes, but I know they are in a better place. I am very grateful to know that I will see them again someday and that is what gets me through the day. To all of those who have past on I love you and I miss you!
So on a previous post I told you about the black apple website, well the cute artist Emily Martin makes these darling dolls and so I wanted to make some too. Emily was kind enough to post her pattern online so away to the sewing machine I went and here is the result below:
I am not so great with sewing but I want to be, and these are so fun to make. I don't even have little girls but I figure I can make them for my nieces. I am just happy to have found something fun and creative to do!
This past week we had the opportunity to go to the temple and see our nephew Brayden sealed to his parents and brother Taylor! He was also legalized by the state and it is now official he is one of us!
Brayden came into Tim and Heidi's (my sister) home in November of 2007 when he was 3 years old as a foster child. They new right off that he was meant to be in their family. Taylor and Brayden are 2 months apart and when they first met it was like they were lost souls back together again. We are so grateful for Brayden and the blessing he is in our lives. We love you Brayden!
So I just found this really cool new artist named Emily this is her blog theblackapple.typepad.com. Anyways I found it from my friend Liesl's blog. Emily has so many awesome paintings, I want them all! She also does so many cute crafty stuff that is totally my style. Anyways I just found my new favorite web-site so I had to share it. Also I picked one of her paintings that I thought best described me and I thought this one was just perfect! If you read her t-shirt it says,"All is full of Love" which is in reference to the Bjork song,"All is Full of Love." The painting is called: The Bjork Girl. That's me!
