October fun!

I love the fall time, it is my favorite! Here are some fun stuff we have been doing.
We went to the scarecrow festival and got in free on accident which was a good thing since Linus was not so much into it. I know he would have had more fun if his cousins were with him, he would have been more brave.
Then we painted little pumpkins! Linus loved this! He was so much fun! We are excited for Linus' cousin who is coming here for Halloween (which also happens to be her b-day) from AZ. We are going to have lots of fun so I will post those pics. after the big event.

Linus and I playing at the park on a nice fall day. Watch out for that big belly!

Here are all the pics. of us painting our pumpkins.

Here is our finished project! We are good.

The Gardens

Linus and I (along with his cousin Elijah and his two new twin friends Ava and Lola) went to the gardens this past week. We had so much fun. The weather was just perfect, a beautiful fall day (which just so happens to be my favorite season). Between the 3 moms I think we took around 400 pictures! So here is just a small handful of our little cuties!

Linus and Ava.Linus and mom, but by this point he was done with pictures.
Playing in the fountains. The kids all got wet.
Feeding the fish.
Looking at all the fish of Linus would say,"shishies"
Linus was sniffing all the roses.
Linus took a liking to Lola and kept following her all over. I thought this pic. was so cute.
Linus chasing Lola.
Ava, Lola, Linus and Elijah looking at the water.
Linus and mommy.

Sorry the first picture is upside down, but you get the idea. His profile!
We are super excited! I was hoping for a girl but I am not disappointed the least bit. It will be so much fun for Linus to have a brother! Everything looks good and he looks healthy and that is most important.

My Dad

Today September 17th is sort of a sad day for our family. My dad passed away unexpectedly 7 yrs. ago today.
I miss him very very much and wish so much that he could see my baby Linus. I am very grateful for having him as my dad and for the knowledge that I will see him again someday.
Here are some fun pictures and memories of my dad.

This picture was taken just 2 wks. before my dad passed away.Taken just days before he died at his birthday party.
One of the many magazines dad was in for his running. I am grateful that my dad past on his same love for running on to me. He never forced us to run but I loved it and always wanted to be just like him.
Here is the kids and dad on Easter in 1984.
Me and my dad in my favorite shirt he had.
My baptism day.

My dad was a very quiet man but if he had something to say he would say it and we all loved him for that.
I have great memories of him coaching me. Also a fond memory of going running with him and my brother one Christmas morning.
Just 2 days before he past he took me out and bought me a brand new guitar, just cause he wanted too, which stuff like that did not happen often. I will always cherish it.
The day before he past was a Sunday and he had just been called to the high counsel in a BYU stake. I went to see him speak in his ward and then I stayed with him for the rest of Sunday, it was just me and him. He wanted me to stay because he said he would be lonely, he tried to bribe me by saying he would drive the car home with the top down (I made him put it up though because it messed my hair). We had a nice drive home when he told me he was proud of me. later that night he was ordained a High Priest and in his blessing they kept saying,"the lord needs good men right now." We had no idea what he meant until the next day. He died 6 days after 9/11 and I really believe that is what was meant when they said,"the lord needs good men right now." He needed to be there for those many lost souls.
I could go on and on but this post is already too long.

Tall Jokes

So as most of you know my husband is 6 foot 6 inches and he is actually one of the short ones in the family. Being so tall has spawned many rude/annoying jokes towards Danny and his brothers, not to mention the ones we get when we go out as couples and people see the height difference. So here are some of the rude things people say:

Stranger: Wow you are really tall!
Jim (Danny's Bro): uh Thanks.
Stranger: I did not say it was a compliment.

Then there has been may people ask Danny and I 'How it works.' Yes that is right they want to know how we have sex, complete strangers. Even when we were engaged my lovely sister said this," you know it is going to be really awkward right?" Yup she did say that.

Danny and I and his Brother and his wife (who are the same height difference as us) were coming our of a movie and some girl staring at us says to her friend," Oh my gosh! Did you see those couples? How tall and short?" She said it plenty loud for us to hear so I whirled around super fast and stared her down.

Then there is always the one about," Oh my gosh how tall are you?" we have decided to ask in response how much they weigh. The worst is when they do tell them how much they say," No your not" uh I think I would know.

And we can't forget the one where everyone you ever meet says," Do you play basketball?"
Which brings me to a great story I want to tell.

Danny was at lunch the other day and this old woman kept on staring at him and he thought, ha ha like I have never been stared at before. Then the old woman turned around and started to approach Danny, so he is thinking, Oh great here we go again. She approaches him and this is how it all went down:

Old Lady: One time I was at the store and I saw a really tall guy and a woman approached him and asked him if he played basketball, just then another woman tapped her on the shoulder and asked," Do you play Mini golf?"

Danny got a good laugh out of that and now has a good comeback when someone asks him that.
Really most of you might not think it would be offensive to ask such a question but if someone were to ask you if you played mini golf because you are short, I think you would be offended. Am I wrong?

Boring?

I was just telling Danny the other day how everytime I look at other people's blogs I see how they have gone on these amazing vacations, or they go boating all the time, or they go bungee jump, or there are these moms who seem to do all sorts of fun stuff with their kids and the moms have friends with kids their kids age and blah blah blah, and all sorts of other crazy business.
Then you come to our blog and we rarely do things like that. So I started to wonder if we are so boring or what the deal is. I came to these conclusions:

1. We can't afford crazy vacations
2. We don't have a boat (nor could we afford one)
3. We both hate to camp (and allergies make it impossible)
4. We pretty much never get invited to such events
5. I am really a home body and most times I would rather just be home
and
6. I am not good at calling people on the phone and asking if they want to do something fun, which I need to work on. So if you are my friend and I rarely call you it is because I have a weird phone phobia.

So would you say this makes me boring? Boring because we don't seem to do much stuff? Is that why no one calls us to hang out? I am starting to feel sort of bad about it, and more bad that I don't have very many friends for Linus and I don't do all these fun things with him like other moms. Linus could really have lots of play buddies but I am nowhere near as out going as I used to be and then there is the phone phobia thing.

Does anyone have any suggestions? And if anyone in my hood is doing something fun and cheap with your kids will you give me a call I am starting to feel like a hermit. I also appolagize for not calling my friends as much as I should.

Women need to vote!

I have always known it is important for women to vote since I was in 5th grade and I learned about Susan B. Anthony and the many women who fought, some dying in the process, to have a right to vote.

So many women just don't vote and the thing is I think if the right was taken away from them then they would have a strong opinion about it. So why don't women vote? Do you vote? If not I recommend you watch this film, then YOU WILL VOTE! The only negative thing I have to say about the film is that stupid Hilary Swank is in it. Other than that it is great. I own it too if anyone wants to borrow it.
